16 Nov 2007 - Year 4 will be visited by the Tudor Maydes
What is a ‘Tuzzy-Muzzy’?
Hopefully, year four will find out on Friday when they will be visited by The Tudor Maydes to support their history work on Tudor England. The ‘maydes’ (Tudor spelling) will be dressed in Tudor costume and will explain what day-to-day life was like for them.
This is what the children said about their last visit:
“Gilly is very poor and she washes clothes for a living. She wears a dirty apron, a bodice, a kirtle, a shift and a coif. She also has a tuzzy-muzzy dangling off her belt.”
“In the Tudor times they said ‘aye’ for yes, ‘nay’ for no and ‘huzzah’ for hurrah.”
“Their soap was made of sheep fat, rose petals and lavender.” Yuk!
