Welcome to Powick CE Primary School

Find Out More About Us

Powick Church of England Primary School was opened in 1870 by the Bishop of Worcester . It is situated on the A449 Worcester to Malvern road.  As the population of Powick and the surrounding area has risen, the school has grown. The original Victorian building has been extended to provide seven classrooms. Each class has about 28 children of the same age, starting at Reception (4 year olds) and going through to Year 6 (11 year olds). We admit children to the Reception class in September, with the younger children starting on a part time basis until Autumn half-term. We currently have 194 children in the school.

The school has a large field and attractive grounds which include a pond and a small wooded play area.  The school is bordered by the Parish Hall to the East, The Village Playing Field to the North and a field to the West.  The Village Playing Field Association have encouraged us to develop a flourishing Forest School area on their field.

We work and play hard at Powick. We have high expectations of ourselves. Staff and governors work closely with parents to help our children succeed. Amongst other things, we continue to develop our Information and Communication Technology and Performing Arts. We provide a wide range of lunch-time and after-school clubs, including football, American sports, other ball games, art, recorder, creative music, choir, orchestra, Challenge Club, dance and drama and an Eco Club.

We have close links with the church and community. We have successful partnerships with The

University  of Worcester and two of our local businesses, Automated Packaging Systems of Malvern
and Laser Engineering whose headquarters are in Powick. We support a variety of charities, including

Eyes for East Africa

We have enjoyed a good relationship with Worcester Rugby Football Club for many years. Recently they have helped us with PSHE and Citizenship work on Anti-Bullying using NSPCC and Childline resources. Groups from school have been involved in the England v Scotland Under 19 International pre match build up and have played tag rugby at half time during the Premiership match between Worcester Warriors and Saracens to promote Childline.

We have worked with an excellent local bereavement counselling charity called Noah's Ark. We are currently working on a Climate Change project with Actionaid to reduce carbon emissions. Actionaid also produce a variety of resources that we use in school. To find out more about these groups or to contact Childline, use the following links.
