Worship

We begin each day with a morning assembly, which contains key elements or consists entirely of worship.  While we expect all children to respect the core values of the Christian faith at our school, parents are reminded that they may withdraw their children from all or part of the religious education and collective worship provided.  If a pupil were to be withdrawn, they would remain near to the school office for the duration of the R.E. lesson or assembly.

Admission of Pupils

As a voluntary controlled school, admissions to the school are the responsibility of the Local Authority.

Details of admission procedures are included in the Local Authority’s Information for Parent’s book available from the school. Copies also available on request from the Local Authority’s School Admissions & Transfers section, telephone: 01905 776359.

When there are more applications than places, pupils are admitted based on the LA’s criteria published in the Information for Parents book.

The school’s official catchment area is the civil parish of Powick with Carey’s Brook acting as a boundary.

The school’s annual intake in the Reception Year is 28, giving a nominal maximum school size of 196 (7 x 28).

There are currently 194 pupils on roll.

All children are admitted to school in September.  Summer birthday children are admitted on a part time basis initially.  Before entering school on a full time basis, children are invited to make several part-time visits to the school to become acquainted with the Headteacher, class teacher and other members of their new class.

Any parent wishing to visit the school prior to their child being admitted is very welcome to do so.  Appointments can be made by contacting, Mrs. Bailey, the school secretary.

Pupils completing their primary education at the school normally transfer to Dyson Perrins High School or The Chase Technology College for the beginning of the Autumn term following their eleventh birthday.  Other children tend to transfer to Hanley Castle High School, Christopher Whitehead High School or the private sector.
