Welcome to Powick CE Primary School

As the leading professional, the Headteacher has overall responsibility for the management and running of the school on a day to day basis. However, the Governing Body are ultimately held accountable for the smooth and effective management of the school. Together, the Headteacher and Governors set the future direction for the school and decide how resources will be deployed. The Governors must ensure that the school provides the highest possible standard of education for its pupils.

They do this by:

thinking and working strategically in order to develop the school and set high standards, and responding to recommendations from OFSTED inspections and self-evaluation;
ensuring progress towards the priorities and targets detailed in the school’s Development Plan, and managing the budget effectively;
supporting the Head and Staff and asking searching questions to ensure focused and rigorous evaluation and review of the school’s policies and practices.
